Waco Pottery Night | Outpost Pottery
Clay, community, and a little chaos — every Thursday, Friday & Saturday.
Service Description
Unleash your creativity in this social and hands-on pottery experience. In these weekly pottery classes you will: learn the basics of the pottery wheel; decorate, stamp and shape your own handmade pottery, or personalize pottery made by our professionals. Come enjoy an evening and atmosphere like no other in Waco. Every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night, we open up the studio at Outpost Pottery for a few hours of hands-on making - no experience required, no "right" way to spend your time, and no pressure to make a masterpiece. Just clay, good company, and a little mess. - Throw on the pottery wheel: try your hand at centering and shaping clay the traditional way. One of our team will walk you through it step-by-step. - Decorate an already-made piece: if the wheel isn't your thing, choose a pre-made piece of pottery and make it your own - your words, your designs, your pottery. The clay is workable, not wet - a blank canvas to make a memory. - Paint a piece: grab a pre-fired piece of pottery and turn it into something you want on your shelf at home. This is the clean option - no wet clay required. Drink from pottery made by renowned ceramic artists. Our gallery features some of Texas's best potters and every beverage tastes better in a handmade work of art. Our fridge is stocked with sparkling waters and sodas, there's hot tea on demand, and you're welcome to byob (or grab a bottle of wine from The Grape next door). Pottery Night isn't limited to couples, or families, or any one kind of group - book a table for two, bring a few friends, come as a family, or turn it into a birthday party! Guests can book their own seat at the table or you can pay for everyone at once. Seating for the studio is shared across everyone that night, so however your group is shaped, there's room. Pottery Nights are mainly about the pottery making experience, but if you want to keep your creations there is a $10 fee to finish and fire each piece. This process typically takes about one month. Specialty glazes combinations vary in price and painted bisqueware pieces follow the same process. If you're from out of town and need it shipped, we can arrange for that as well. Tips for the Pottery Wheel: Our clay comes right out of clothes, but it can be messy! Pants and shorts are great. Skirts and low-cut shirts are not. Rings, bracelets and long necklaces can be problematic as can long fingernails. You also may want to put long hair up and out of the way in a hair tie.
